First Visit
Your First Visit to Ventura Childrens Dental Group
We recommend that all children have their first dental well-care visit by the time they reach one year old or when their first tooth appears, whichever comes first. That will enable our pediatric dental specialists to do an early evaluation of your child. It will also be the first step of our preventive care program, which we designed to help your child establish and maintain a healthy smile for a lifetime.
Your Child's First Visit
In addition to an early evaluation of their growth and orthodontic development, another objective of your child’s first visit is to answer your questions regarding your child’s dental development. At this visit, we will provide information to you and your child about healthy dietary practices, and proper oral hygiene habits and techniques. We can also to provide education and guidance for oral development, as recommended by the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.
Let us make your child’s first visit a happy and educational one. Here are some ways you can prepare them for their visit:
- Read a story about the first dental visit to your child
- Role-play. Pretend you’re the doctor and count your child’s teeth
- Always use positive language; refrain from sharing negative experiences
- You can even try using an electric toothbrush to simulate a dental instrument
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask our friendly staff. They are well-informed and will be happy to assist you.
Baby's First Teeth
As soon as your baby's first tooth appears, schedule a first dental visit. The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that children should visit the pediatric dentist before their first birthday.
